Why It Works:

Reveals the why behind repeated patterns
Helps you process unresolved pain and trauma
Strengthens your sense of self

Sharon Freeman BACP Accredited Therapist & Clinical Supervisor

With the benefit of many years’ experience and relevant qualifications, under the BACP, I am a BACP accredited psychodynamic clinical supervisor and therapist working in Private practice for over 25 years. In addition to the traditional clinical setting of talking therapy, I also provide a non clinical based therapy in the realms of Equine Assisted Therapy.

Alongside my private practice in Sutton, Surrey I have worked in the NHS seeing time limited clients, clinical supervisor to therapeutic agencies where I supervise trainee therapist and qualified therapist alike.

As an experienced Psychodynamic therapist, I’m able to offer a secure environment a client can talk freely about their emotional difficulties without feeling that they are being judged in any way.

As an experienced psychodynamic therapist, I am able to offer either long-term, time limited brief therapy or solution-focused counselling. During the course of the counselling the client can explain just how they are feeling and if there are any situations or symptoms they may find particularly distressing. A sympathetic ear and complete confidentiality are of course assured.

If you suspect that you may be experiencing some kind of distress and find that daily life has become problematical, why not come and talk to me.

That very first meeting could mark the start of your return to a normal life, one that no longer holds uncertainty at every bend in the road. If you feel that I can help you please contact me.

Some of the reasons for counselling include:

  • Anxiety
  • Bereavement
  • Difficulties with relationships
  • Facing changes
  • Hopelessness
  • Low self-esteem
  • Responsibilities that seem too much
  • Sexual issues
  • Anger
  • Depression
  • Eating disorders
  • Feeling rejected
  • Loneliness
  • Marital difficulties
  • Self-harm
  • Tension

Equine Therapy

Equine Assisted Therapy. Where Horses help heal our mental health.

In addition to the more conventional therapy setting, I also offer a completely different type of therapy which is Equine Assisted Therapy sessions.

Horses at The Diamond Centre

Under the guidance of myself a BACP Accredited Psychodynamic Clinical Therapist, working in a non-clinical setting, this unique approach blends professional counselling with the calming presence of horses to support emotional wellbeing, personal growth and resilience.

This equine therapy course is for those who want to understand how horses can play an important role in our well-being as well as our positive mental health.

Based on the mindfulness approach and mindful experiential learning, clients will spend considerable hands-on time, over an 8 week course with horses learning to understand themselves through the behaviour of horses and how they interact with us.

These sessions will be held by myself at the Diamond Centre in Carshalton Surrey. Please contact directly to book these sessions.

Testimonials

What an incredible and enlightening journey it has been working with Sharon over the past six years.
Therapy has truly changed my life.
I wouldn’t be where I am today without the knowledge and confidence I’ve gained, and that’s all thanks to Sharon.

She has a wonderfully warm and caring nature, and I’ve always felt completely comfortable around her.
Together, we’ve explored so many layers within myself, and through her empathetic guidance, I’ve grown immensely.

I lost my father to suicide at a young age, and with Sharon’s help, I’ve come to understand my thoughts, feelings, and actions so much more deeply over the years.
Learning about my inner child, among many other things, has profoundly shaped my self-awareness and emotional growth.

This work has improved all areas of my life including my relationships with partners, friends, colleagues, and most importantly, with myself.
It amazes me when I think back to the woman I was before starting therapy, because who I am now feels so different.

Learning to set boundaries and believe in myself has helped shape me into the strong woman I am today.
I can’t thank Sharon enough.
The work she does is truly life changing, and I couldn’t recommend her more highly.

Since the age of 11, I have had different experiences with various counsellors & therapists due to bereavement/anxiety and depression. Although most helped me to a certain extent, none have ever come close to the impact that meeting Sharon has had on my life. Despite being nervous to dive back into the world of therapy, I cannot express how grateful I am that I did!

Sharon is the warmest, kindest person you could possibly imagine (no exaggeration!) Knowing I will see her each weekend, provides me with the security & strength to cope with any challenges that I may encounter throughout my week.

Her sessions offer such a sense of safety & genuine care which helps you to open up with ease, which is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced before! Being able to open up freely, knowing that no judgements are being made is such a liberating experience. Even just being in Sharon’s presence is comforting!

Her words of wisdom are insightful & encouraging. She has given me the ability to have a much better understanding of who I am, what I want from life & why I behave the way I that I do. This is something most other forms of therapy cannot offer!

She has given me the confidence to take back control of my life & to take steps each day to improve both my mental and physical wellbeing. Her support & guidance has allowed me to develop into a much more resilient & happier person overall!

It’s really is a great feeling to have Sharon ‘in you’re corner!’ She is so much more than just a therapist; she’s like a mentor, teacher & friend.

To anyone that is wondering whether therapy might be a positive decision to take.. The best advice I could possibly give is - Give Sharon a call (you won’t ever look back!)

I've been seeing Sharon for about 6 months as I suffer from anxiety. I feel very comfortable with her and she has helped me come a long way. With her help I am learning to control my anxiety and do things I never thought possible 6 months ago.

Sharon is open, insightful and practical in her approach. Over a few months, Sharon has helped me to understand and manage my anxiety and depression. I found her balanced approach guided me through a difficult time and helped me to rationalise and improve my depression on an ongoing basis. I am better than I have been for years. I feel like I have my life back and cannot recommend her highly enough.

I have been seeing Sharon for over 2 and a half years and I still have regular weekly sessions with her.

From the moment I met Sharon I immediately felt at ease, her friendly smile and warm caring nature made it easy for me to want to build a relationship with her and attend therapy . I have met other therapists in the past and never stuck it out, mainly because I didn't like them and felt I couldn't open up to them as there was no connection. This however is not the case with Sharon, from my 1st ever session I immediately knew that she was the therapist for me.

Sharon is a great listener, she is empathic, knowledgeable and she isn't afraid to say when she thinks I am steering onto the wrong path. Sharon is honest and has always helped me to figure things out in a non judge mental way.

In the 2 and a half years I have been seeing Sharon I feel she has saved my life, she has helped me to become a person I more a less like and want to be . I would not be where I am today if it wasn't for my sessions with her.

When things were getting too much for me and I wanted to talk things through with someone, I decided to phone Sharon. I was a little nervous at first but during my initial phone call she was completely understanding, helpful and friendly which immediately put me at ease.

Although I have lots of friends and family it was nice to talk through my problems with someone who didn't know me, and who didn't judge me. While visiting Sharon each week for 3 months she made me feel comfortable and confident enough to talk honestly and openly within a private and peaceful environment.

She always made me feel reassured that nothing I felt, or spoke about, was silly or trivial. She also helped me get to the root of my problems at my own pace, with no pressure.

I would highly recommend Sharon, and if I ever needed to talk to someone in the future I wouldn't hesitate to turn to her again.

I highly recommend Sharon.

I saw her when I was recovering from Post Natal depression and trying to find my feet after having a baby.
